Fuselages made of composite are like plastic - I'm the Plastic Pilot who flies the plastic planes
This is my blog, and it's about modern general aviation, glass-cockpits, FADECs, but also aviation in general

Improved layout

I somehow compacted this blog’s layout a bit, in an attempt to streamline it, make it more readable, easier to navigate, and give even more room to content. I hope you’ll enjoy it - feel free to contact me to give me any feed-back, even if you found a bug, or simply hate it ;-)

Courchevel in a Cessna 172

Courchevel is a well known french altiport, requiring a site qualification. Given how steep the runway is, and that there is no go-arroud option.

When no AFIS is present to give QNH to pilot, the procedure is to fly at the height of a teleski station, which is at 7′200 ft, and set the altimeter at this time.

The take-off is really easy given the slope, despite being even more impressive than the take-off.

@Darren: thanks, but I was at the camera, not at the controls. I’m not qualified to land there… yet.

  3. I really enjoyed the approach and landing. what is a 172tdi ?
I have a private airfield 1400 ft long with trees and cross winds, but that one is scary. Thats one reason I truly love helicopters.

@Bob: yes, it’s a C172 with the Thielert Centurion 1.7 TDI engine retrofit. It’s doing well at altitude. Thanks to the turbo, the engine is developping 100% power up to 7′000 feet.
