Fuselages made of composite are like plastic - I'm the Plastic Pilot who flies the plastic planes
This is my blog, and it's about modern general aviation, glass-cockpits, FADECs, but also aviation in general

Improved layout

I somehow compacted this blog’s layout a bit, in an attempt to streamline it, make it more readable, easier to navigate, and give even more room to content. I hope you’ll enjoy it - feel free to contact me to give me any feed-back, even if you found a bug, or simply hate it ;-)

PA28 AVGAS Again - One never forgets

After completing the FADEC challenge, I decided to restart flying PA28, mostly to have more options. I did not flew a PA28 for one and a half year so I had to fly three circuits with my instructor. With a total time over 70 hours on the PA28 family, I was not expecting any issue…

And no one popped out. All three approaches were stabilized, all three landings were smooth. The zero wind condition certainly helped…

Re-flying this good old friend make me feel like coming back home. Things were where I left them, and habits came quickly back. Ok, I had extra thoughts for the carbureator heat and the fuel pump (which anyway is still present on the C172 TDI…), but no issues to report.

I thnik I can now consider myself as kind of a bi-technology pilot, FADEC and classical engines. My FADEC experience represents now 19% of my flight time, so it is by far not a negligible fraction of it. I will continue to fly both, and hopefully to test new types… stay tuned !
