500th post – Enter the photo contest today !
Yeeeeepeeeee, shall I say. This is the 500th post on this blog. To celebrate it, I organize a photo contest, open to all of you. Send me your best aviation-related picture to get a chance to win a photo book, a tee-shirt, or a mousepad..
There are few rules applying to this contest:
- You can submit only one picture. Send it per e-mail to plasticpilot@plasticpilot.net
- The picture must be aviation related (in flight, aircraft, …). Any branch of aviation is ok, as long as you respect the next rule
- The picture must have been taken by you, or one of your passengers. No pictures from the Internet or any other source
- Resoneable sizes, resolutions and formats are accepted, preferrably JPEG, PNG or GIF, below 5MB, and wider than 495 pixels.
- You must submit your picture before the 31of October 2008
- All pictures will be published here on the 2nd of November 2008
- All readers will be allowed to vote from the 2nd to the 16th of November 2008, on a one vote per reader basis
The submitter of the picture which will have the more votes at the end of the voting period will win a copy of my photo book, which I will personally dedicate to him / her. The second one will win a tee-shirt, and the third one a mousepad from my shop. My target date is to have the prizes delivered by begin of December.

It’s now time for me to open a bottle of my favorite beverage, and have a party to celebrate this milestone, together with my wife who very kindly tolerates the time I invest in this blog. Feel free to do the same on your side of the blog, and stay tuned.

Fun initiative with the photo contest! I will make sure and send you one as soon as I can make up my mind about which one to pick…
Will there be any limitations/requirements regarding picture resolution?
Looking forward to seeing all the contributions when you publish them next month!

No restriction regarding resolution, but that was a good question.
For presentations purose, I’ll produce thumbnails by reducing the pictures proportionally to a width of 495 pixels. The thumbnails will link to the full size picture. Anything narrower than 495 pixels will be used as-is. However, given the resolutions used nowadays, I don’t expect so tiny pictures.
On the other side of the resolution scale, I prefer not to receive 20 MB pictures in raw format. JPEGs, PNG and GIF are preferred.
