One of my favorite aspects of aviation is that becoming means starting a continuous learning and discovery process. There is always a next thing to do. New destination, new techniques, new aircraft, new people, new ratings…

The question of this poll is simple: what is your next objective ?
- New aircraft type familiarisation ?
- New class rating ?
- Multi-engine ?
- Sea-plane ?
- IFR or IMC ?
- New destination ?
- Tail-wheel ?
- Foreing license conversion (FAA – JAA – Canada – South Africa – Australia) ?
- Night VFR ?
- Glider rating ?
- Aerobatics ?
Or are you in a consolidation phase, buiding time or confidence ? Do you wait for the 1500 hours to “unfreeze” your ATPL, or the 100 hours to start your IFR training ? Perhaps you’re like me, and just aim at keeping your rating alives through a non aviation friendly phase of your life ? Let me know in a comment, and start a discussion !

Vincent Lambercy is a Swiss private pilot now living in Germany. He holds a private pilot certificate with single-engine, multi-engine and instrument ratings and has logged more than 430 hours of flight.

I’m unfortunately in that just trying to keep current in a non flying friendly phase of life category. I would like to go for an instrument rating but that’s going to have to wait.
i’m slowly working towards an IFR rating. the winter weather has delayed me quite a bit lately though. after that, maybe G-1000 or a tailwheel endorsement.
Trying to motivate to go out to the airfield in the bitter cold…this time of year, I always struggle with this, and then get busy with the holidays, and skiing…and the next thing you know, my currency, and my confidence, sink…then it is spring, and the whole cycle starts over again. I think maybe this year I will practice on flight sim on the big tv a couple of times a week, and see if theat helps keep my head in the game!
As far as ratings, I have CASEL, and was working towards my CFI about 6 years ago, but never finished. I keep saying I want to, but it sure takes many hours… and I think it will force me to come to terms with some of my flying weaknesses that have been difficult to overcome…which will be both good and bad.
Still no invite from transponder, by the way.
Mike
New destination although really over the winter my main goal is just not to fall out of date.
My next step is simply “explore Normandy (France)” and try to fly as much as possible
