The so-called V-Speeds are reference speeds by pilots for decision making. Some are known to all pilots, but some are rather obscure… Do you know all of them ?
1- V1: Maximum speed at which a take-off can be stopped
2 – V2: Takeoff safety speed
3 – Vr: Rotation speed
4 – Vlo: Maximum landing gear operating speed
5 – Vle: Maximum landing gear extended speed
6 – Vfo: Maximum flap operating speed
7 – Vfe: Maximum flap extended speed
8 – Va: Manoeuvering speed
9 – Vne: Never exceed speed
10 – Vx: Best angle of climb speed
11 – Vy: Best rate of climb speed
12 – Vyse: same with only one engine
13 – Vmc: Minimum control speed with Critical engine inoperative
14 – Vno: Normal operating speed
15 – Vref: Landing reference speed
16 – Vs: Stall speed
17 – Vs0: Stall speed in landing configuration
18 – Vsw: Stall warning speed
19 – Vd: Diving speed
20 – Vh: Maximum speed in level flight at maximal continuous power
21 – Vb: Speed for maximum gust intensity
