Airbus A320 ditched in the Mediterranean Sea abeam Perpignan

French media report that an Airbus 320 with 7 persons on board (number not confirmed, some media report 5) ditched in the Mediterranean Sea abeam Perpignan, at approximately 16:00 UTC. The exact circumstances are unclear, but it seems that it was a post-maintenance flight. Two bodies have already been recovered.

At redaction time, there is not a lot of informaton available, however you can read more via the links below.

As always, the rumors machine will start. The usual experts will pop-out of their boxes to deliver their opinions to the medias. Don’t forget that interpreting information immediately after an accident is almost impossible (click here to read more about air accidents). The victims and their relatives deserve respect, and spreading incorrect information is not only useless, but shows lack of consideration towards the affected persons.

UPDATE on 1st of December: Some initial hypothesis are emerging. Click here to read more.
