Ryanair Boeing 737 skids off runway when landing in Limoges

A Ryanair Boeing 737 operating from Charleroi (Belgium) to Limoges (France) as FR1216 failed to stop on runway, and came to rest in the grass after runway end. None of the 175 passengers and 6 crew members got injured. A pregnant women has been taken to hospital, as a precautionary measure. Passengers have been evacuated using the slides.

Ryanair 737 in Limoges

I know I’m always saying the same things, but the facts I reported above are all what is known yet. It’s way too early to know anything about the cause. As always, there are probably many causal factors: technical problems, human error, weather, and many more.

Rumors already started to spread, but remember that it’s always the case with such incidents. The australian guy pretending to be a passenger on the 777 in Heathrow demonstrated that they are not reliable. Let’s wait for the investigation report.

An initial press release from Ryanair is available here.
